140mm is the length Ray-Ban settled on for the RX7097, pairing a plastic front with metal temple arms. A compatible replacement needs to match that measurement to keep the fit even on both sides of the square frame, since the plastic front doesn't flex enough to compensate for an arm that runs even slightly short or long.
Metal temples on a plastic-front frame like this one tend to loosen at the hinge screw well before the front shows any wear, since the screw threads take the brunt of repeated folding. Replacing just the arms is a small aftermarket fix next to buying a whole new pair over a part that was still otherwise fine. Checking the hinge for play is usually enough to confirm it's the arm and not the frame.

INSTALLATION

– Loosen the hinge screw with a screwdriver.
– Carefully remove the temple.
2 ATTACHING THE NEW TEMPLES:
– Align the new temple with the hinge.
– Insert and tighten the screw securely.
3 CHECKING THE FIT:
– Ensure the temples move smoothly and are properly aligned.
